Emerald Coast Designs
Exquisite Gemstone Jewelry Featuring Precious & Semi-precious Stones
|
| Welcome
to Emerald
Coast Designs online! We are Skip and Moonstone White.
We've met many of you at
art festivals and look forward to working with you. We have
created this site to make it easier for you to remember our work and
contact us about particular items you would like. Skip is the
master goldsmith and silversmith. Moonstone works in silver, and
maintains many other aspects of the business, including photographing
the jewelry and maintaining this website. Moonstone also has a line of sterling silver pendants called Ancient Echoes. |

| Below
is a
brief sampling of work that is either currently available or that we've
done in the past. Be sure to check the product listing pages on the navigation bar to the left to see many other items. As you know, the cost of gold has risen
dramatically, yet we still strive to keep prices as low as
possible. We look forward to seeing you soon at another
show in your area! For tips on cleaning your jewelry, Click Here. |
We often have one-of-a-kind pieces, so some pieces may change frequently or may not be shown on the website at all.
Some items can be done in similar ways using the same type or
different stones. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
Check
the Upcoming Shows link on the left to find out where we will be
showing in the next several months. We often come to certain areas
several times a year, but in some cases, may only be there once a
year or even less. We are easily accessible
through this website, so please get in touch with any questions.
We
are glad to help.
Jewelry Cleaning Tips To retain
your jewelry's beauty, you will need to occasionally clean it.
This is not a big deal! For hard clear stones, such as
sapphire, amethyst, citrine, tourmaline, aquamarine, diamonds, etc.,
you can soak the piece overnight in a small glass container filled with
sudsy ammonia (best) or windex. If there is grime from hand
lotion, body oils or soap, use a soft toothbrush the next day to remove
those deposits, then rinse clear and blot dry. Voila! Your
piece will sparkle like new.
If you are cleaning an opal
piece, or one with a soft stone such as turquoise or pearl, simply use
a soft toothbrush and dish soap to remove any grime, then rinse
thoroughly. Opals and porous soft stones should not be soaked in
ammonia or windex.
If your sterling silver has darkened from
tarnish, you can polish it back to a shiny luster in a couple of ways.
There are jeweler's dry polishing cloths that come in a plastic
dispenser you can buy at stores such as Walmart. These work very
well. You can rinse the piece briefly with Windex and then water
to remove the polishing rouge left behind by the cloth.
Another option is to use silver polish that comes in a paste like
you would use to polish sterling flatware for eating. You can use
a toothbrush to get the paste in small areas, then rinse thoroughly.
The polish will not hurt the stone as long as you don't leave it
on and forget about it. Just apply, brush or rub, then rinse.
